Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the incident made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
