Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional title, took control to force a final set.

He saved four early-game chances in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
